Gasparilla season in Tampa: how to plan an exotic rental for parade weekend
Tampa's Gasparilla parade weekend, usually in late January, is one of the city's busiest. How to time your rental, where to park and which cars make sense.

Gasparilla is Tampa's signature party: a pirate ship "invades" the city and a huge parade rolls down Bayshore Boulevard, usually on the last Saturday of January. Hotels, restaurants and rental cars book up fast that weekend.
How to time your rental
- Book early. Treat parade weekend like a holiday. Reserve weeks ahead, not days.
- Get the car the day before. Parade-day road closures around Bayshore and downtown make delivery and pickup slow.
- Park it and walk. The parade route is packed. Use the car to get there and to dinner, not to drive along the route.
Which cars make sense
- A convertible for January weather, which is usually mild: the Corvette C8 Convertible from $399 a day or the Rolls-Royce Dawn.
- An SUV if you're bringing friends: the Escalade ESV or Brabus G800.
- A supercar for the after-party arrival: the Huracán EVO Spyder or McLaren GTS.
