The best time of year to rent a supercar in Chicago

Chicago in summer is one of the best places in the country to drive something special: the lakefront, the skyline and long evenings. Winter is another story. Here's how the year breaks down.
Month by month
- May and June: the season opens. Lake Shore Drive comes alive, and prices and availability are good if you book a week or two ahead.
- July and August: peak season. Weekends and big festival dates book up first, so reserve early.
- September and early October: the sweet spot. Cooler air, fewer crowds and fall color on the North Shore.
- November to April: snow and road salt keep many exotics garaged. SUVs like the Lamborghini Urus or G 63 are the better winter picks.
Busy weekends to plan around
Chicago's biggest summer events, like the lakefront air show and the big downtown music festivals, usually fall in late July and August. Traffic and parking get tight downtown, so plan your route and book your car early.
Where to drive
- Lake Shore Drive early on a weekend morning, before traffic.
- Sheridan Road through Evanston, Wilmette and Lake Forest.
